The Ultimate Hybrid Mitzvah Entertainment Act: ONYX.

Flagship entertainment group at Washington Talent for more than 20 years and the Mitzvah band in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.!

Parents of Bar and Bat Mitzvah age children want live music (a band) at any major family affair, but in today’s world, our pre-teenage children seem to only want a DJ (MC/DJ). “When our kids ask, we usually give.” Why not have the best of both worlds? ONYX is truly the HYBRID of both worlds. The number 1 most recommended Mitzvah band in Maryland, DC and Virginia is best explained to your kids as MC Justin, MC DREW and DJ Nick with 6 live musicians!

Have the best of both worlds, every bit of live entertainment you want, and the MC/DJ that your kids want too!

When it comes to your Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration ONYX is simply the BEST and most trusted choice.

Renewed, refreshed and affordable, ONYX has earned its reputation by offering new and unique ideas to help your event stand out from the rest. Expect the latest Billboard chart hits and the songs from FM 99.5, to the classic standards and hip-hop favorites. Combine them with the hottest dancers, charismatic personalities and the coolest games and giveaways and you have an evening that is un-matched on the East Coast. Bandleader, Robert Sherman and entertainment icons Ginny, Smitty, Justin and Drew, keep the band on top of its game. Robert has been the backbone of the band on drums since ONYX‘s first party in the mid-80′s. ONYX‘s famous frontline will have your guests dancing the night away. Elliot or “Smitty“, the handsome baritone, is Mr. Personality on and off stage. His vocals talents carry a unique ability to mimic the sounds of greats throughout time while still allowing him to create a performance style of his own. MC Justin, and MC DREW, the band’s dynamic front duo, injects youth and charisma all over the party throughout the night. Freddie Moss, the band’s ace guitar player, also dazzles with his voice and stage performance. The spunky leading lady vocalist of the group, Ginny, is polished and professional, yet she knows how to work with both kids and adults on any dance floor, she has a timely voice and beauty. David Cohen, the bands keyboardist, sax player  and WTA General Manager, holds the backline together with unrivaled professionalism and humor. Last in the ONYX line-up is front man, sax player, vocalist and ONYX DJ, Nick Henry. This incredible live entertainment act is truly unriveled in our area.

You bring the guests and ONYX featuring: MC Justin and MC Drew bring the party!

You all were absolutely fantastic and we want to thank you so much for helping to make the evening so special.   To begin with, thank you for your flexibility and speed in dealing with the quick turnaround for the ceremony.  Fortunately, Whitney and Sara did not let us know that the preceding Bar Mitzvah went way beyond schedule until after our wedding.  They said that you guys were great about it.  So many people told us that the ceremony music was beautiful and that the rendition of Home that you and Drew and Fred performed was perfect!  I can’t wait to hear the video because the whole evening was such a blur that I didn’t really fully hear everything.

As for the party, the talent and high energy coming from all of you could not have been better.  You guys had the dance floor packed, which was exactly what we had hoped for. Everyone commented on how fabulous the band was and how much fun they had dancing to your music.  Those who previously enjoyed your music at Danny and Mikey’s Bar Mitzvahs marveled that you all are still going strong and looking so young all these years later!

Finally, we are so very appreciative that you learned and played Dave Koz’s You Make Me Smile – and found a soprano sax to play it on!  That was above and beyond the call of duty and it certainly made Lee and me smile!!

We will be more than happy to leave feedback on Wedding Wire, but may not get to it until we return from our honeymoon (we leave tomorrow morning).

Thanks so much again for everything.  We hope to have Onyx play at a future milestone event … one of our kids’ weddings perhaps?!

Best Regards,

Nancy & Lee
